My name is Chris Harvey and I provide Behavioural Consultations and 1-2-1 Training tailored to you and your dog.  My initial consultation normally takes 2 to 3 hours and will include  detailing your dogs behaviour history and a practical assessment where appropriate. Please be mindful, further follow up sessions may be necessary to effect a positive behavioural change.

I firmly believe in the bond between dog and owner. If your dog is strongly bonded with you and is happy and content around you then there is every chance that we can help work through any behaviour issues your dog presents. 

Before your dog can listen to you, and accept guidance from you he needs your understanding, patience and your ability to "listen" to what he is telling you through his body language and his actions. If this is not present then it is unlikely that you will enjoy that special relationship which is so meaningful to dog and owner alike. 

The emotional well being of your dog is incredibly important in helping your dog feel safe, content,  balanced and well regulated . For your dog to learn from you he or she MUST be emotionally regulated  and view training input as being enjoyable.   Pleasurable training sessions for your dog coupled with valued rewards help trigger a brain chemical known as Dopamine. This helps make your dog feel good, stay motivated and be receptive to learning. Your Dog will be much more likely to repeat the behaviour(s) you want him to learn and maintain if he feels good about himself and everything around him. 

To establish good behaviour I may use clicker training techniques and  will take the time to explain the science behind it’s use. I will also provide you with an understanding of how dogs learn, using classical and operant conditioning methods alongside how  your methods of  communication may affect your dogs behaviour.  My training methods are relaionship centred and reward based and I never use punitive training methods which can cause untold damage for your dog. 

Kompletely K9 also provides a fully supervised Day Care service along with  Group Socialisation sessions. These 4 to 5 hour sessions can be particularly beneficial for dogs that have missed out on habituation  and the opportunity to socialise correctly during their early development. Consequently these dogs may display fear, reactivity and anxiety around other canines. Please contact me to check availability. 

I also provide Scent work training for fun where suitable dogs have the opportunity to learn how to search for a particular scent to gain a reward.
